A World Without Work

As increasingly intelligent and capable machines perform more and more of the productive functions of society, the displacement of human labor will accelerate and expand to where there will not be enough jobs no matter what we do. The only long-term solution to this massive transfer of responsibility from human to machine labor will be to fundamentally restructure the relationship between society and work. This will be a major presentation by Dr. Richard Gilbert, Professor of Psychology and Founding Director of the P.R.O.S.E. Project (Psychological Research on Synthetic Environments), as well as Chair of the Board of Governors, Western United States Region of The Immersive Education Initiative. He will advocate for Basic Income Guarantee (#ThinkBIG) as the solution. The talk will be followed by small group discussions, and will be the launch of Suzanne Taylor’s #SUESpeaks (Searching for Unity in Everything).
