Entertainment and Sports Programming Network, or ESPN, is an American cable TV network that provides round the clock sports coverage. You will be able to watch live and pre-taped sporting events, talk shows, and even original content.
Bill and Scott Rasmussen with the help of Ed Eagan pitched the idea for sports television channel in the summer of 1978, calling it ESP Network. On July 14, 1978 the ESP Network was launched on five local cable operators for a fee of $91, but the Ramsussen’s had to find a way to get the EPS channel to more people, and that is when they were informed about satellite communication (Satellite TV). Using Satellite communication they would be able to reach the entire country with their channel instead of a few local networks. Plus it was cheaper to buy a 24-hour satellite feed that sending their TV signal the way they were currently doing.
